Helping Children Navigate the COVID-19 Crisis

Milton Rabbit

Meet Milton Rabbit, a captivating online storyteller designed to help young children make sense of the world around them.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, children across India experienced disruptions in their daily routines, schooling, and social interactions. Recognizing the urgent need for age-appropriate educational tools, Rukmani Trust partnered with Milton Rabbit to provide a comforting and informative resource to help them navigate these uncertain times.

Bringing Clarity to Confusion

The global health crisis was difficult for adults to grasp—let alone for children. To bridge this gap, a Danish publisher collaborated with Grundfos, a global pump manufacturer, to create Milton and the Invisible Coronavirus—an illustrated children's book designed to explain the pandemic in a simple, engaging, and reassuring way.

Through vibrant illustrations and storytelling, the book helped children understand:

  • Why social distancing is important
  • How hygiene practices keep them safe
  • The value of looking out for one another

By making the pandemic less intimidating, Milton and the Invisible Coronavirus equipped children with the knowledge and confidence they needed to stay safe.

At Rukmani Trust, we are proud to support Milton Rabbit in bringing clarity, comfort, and learning to young minds in times of uncertainty.

How Rukmani Trust Scaled Its Impact in India

Milton Rabbit is part of Milton Around the World, a global educational initiative that creates learning materials for children aged 5 to 8 years. Recognizing its potential to offer comfort and clarity to children struggling to make sense of the COVID-19 crisis, Rukmani Trust brought this initiative to India.

For many children, the pandemic was a confusing and isolating experience. They didn't understand why they couldn't go to school, visit their grandparents, or play with friends. Meanwhile, parents faced the challenge of explaining these drastic changes in a way that was both factual and non-frightening.

To bridge this gap, Rukmani Trust made digital versions of Milton's books and teaching materials accessible to grassroots NGOs like Lakshyam, ensuring that children—especially in remote and underserved areas—had access to these vital educational resources.

Through this collaboration, Rukmani Trust helped create a sense of understanding, security, and resilience among young children during an unprecedented global crisis.
